Sri Lankan Wedding Catering in London: Everything You Need to Know

Food is one of the things people remember most about a wedding. Not the speeches. Not the venue. The food. Sri Lankan wedding catering gives you big, memorable flavours that feel celebratory in a way that generic wedding food simply doesn't.

Food is one of the things people remember most about a wedding. Not the speeches. Not the venue. The food. Sri Lankan wedding catering gives you something most catering can't. Big, memorable flavours that feel genuinely celebratory.

What does a Sri Lankan wedding menu look like?

There's no single answer. Sri Lankan food is varied. The north of the island (Jaffna, where our recipes come from) has a different style to Colombo in the south. Our menus are built around what your guests will love, not a set template.

A typical Sri Lankan wedding spread might include slow-cooked mutton or chicken curries, biryani, dhal, vegetable sides, rotis, papadums and sambals, with a live hopper or dosa station as the centrepiece. Everything is made fresh. We don't reheat things that were cooked yesterday.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes, always. We cater for halal, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free as standard on every wedding. Sri Lankan food is naturally accommodating. Many of our dishes are vegetable-based, and the proteins are easy to swap. We work through the full breakdown of your guest list during planning so no one ends up with a plate that doesn't work for them.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak summer weekends, 3-6 months ahead is ideal. We do accommodate shorter notice. If your date is sooner than that, get in touch anyway and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it work. We'd rather you ask and find out than assume we're not available.

Buffet or plated service: which is better for a Sri Lankan wedding?

Most of our wedding clients choose a buffet with a live cooking station as the centrepiece. A buffet keeps the energy up, lets guests go back for more, and creates a natural social flow to the evening. A live hopper or kothu roti station adds theatre. Guests gather around, watch the food being made, and it becomes a talking point in its own right.

Plated service works well for more formal occasions where you want set courses at the table. We do both. It comes down to the vibe of your wedding.

How much does Sri Lankan wedding catering cost in London?

For a fully staffed wedding buffet in London, you're typically looking at £45-£75 per head depending on the menu, service style and guest numbers. We'll always give you a clear itemised quote before anything is agreed. No vague estimates, just a real number based on your specific event.
